A steel and glass loft door from Manufaktur X costs between £1,158 and £2,838 in the example configurations shown here, excluding UK import VAT, as the door is a tax-free export. The standard configuration at 900 × 2,040 mm costs £1,413; add £349 for delivery to the UK and, if you do not fit the door yourself, a local joiner's fitting charge.

The door is built to the exact width and height you enter: a steel frame with a glass infill, configured and ordered on the product page, where the 3D configurator shows every change as a preview with its current price. There is no printed price list, because two doors with the same options but different sizes cost different amounts. The table shows the standard configuration and real example configurations, all excluding UK import VAT and shipping.
What pushes the price up?
With every other option unchanged, the price of a Manufaktur X loft door rises with its width and height, and most options add to it; a few choices are price-neutral (see below). So settle the two dimensions first and compare the options afterwards.
The price drivers our pricing tests confirmed, at a glance:

These relationships come from our pricing tests, with 9 to 11 tested configurations per option, starting from the standard configuration. An input not listed here did not change the price in those tests, which does not mean it never does. The standard configuration is a reference point, not a minimum: other example configurations in the table cost less or more. To keep the price down, leave out the options that raised it in our tests: a second leaf, a pivot door, any glass other than clear, the magnetic lock, side panels and an upper section.
Two example configurations and what drives their price
Two configurations from our configurator show how the drivers add up; their prices are in the example rows of the table above.
Example 1: tall pivot door, 1,000 × 2,400 mm, 4 × 2 glazing bars, textured glass in toughened safety glass (ESG), magnetic lock, RAL 9005. The height, the pivot hinge, the number of glazing bars, the textured glass and the magnetic lock all push this price up.
Example 2: double door, 2 × 700 mm (1,400 mm) × 2,100 mm with a 400 mm upper section, smoked glass ESG, Elongated handle. Here the overall width of 1,400 mm, the two leaves, the upper section and the smoked glass raise the price.
Which choices cost nothing extra?
Colour, handle style, hinge side and the choice between toughened safety glass (ESG) and laminated safety glass (VSG) do not change the price of a Manufaktur X loft door. In our pricing tests, all four left the price unchanged:
- RAL colour - the five presets (RAL 9005, RAL 7016, RAL 9010, RAL 9001, RAL 8019) and any RAL colour entered by its code cost the same; which shade suits your walls and floor is covered in the guide to RAL colours and powder coating.
- Handle - Crescent, Subtle and Elongated are priced the same; how to choose handle and lock is explained in the article on handles and locks.
- Hinge side - left or right, same price.
- ESG or VSG - laminated safety glass (two 3 mm panes bonded by a 1 mm interlayer) costs the same as the 4 mm toughened glass, so the choice comes down to use, not price: ESG is the standard for living spaces, while VSG suits places with public footfall, for example.
Price basis, shipping and fitting
The configurator shows the price of the door itself; Manufaktur X sells direct as the manufacturer, and every door is made in the EU. Six points to know before you compare:
- VAT: deliveries to the UK are tax-free exports, so the price contains no VAT. You pay the UK import VAT at the border, and Manufaktur X pays the customs clearance and handling fees.
- Price per square metre: there is none; the configurator calculates the price for your exact size.
- Lead time: around 5-6 weeks.
- Shipping: £349 per order to the UK, one flat rate whatever the configuration or postcode; the checkout shows it before you pay.
- Budget example: standard configuration £1,413 + £349 flat-rate shipping to the UK = £1,762, excluding UK import VAT and fitting.
- Fitting: Manufaktur X offers no installation service. You fit the door yourself using the installation guide supplied with it, or you hire a local joiner; the guide to fitting a loft door yourself walks through the steps.
Made to measure, so no right of withdrawal: because every loft door is built to your own specification, our terms exclude the right of withdrawal; your statutory warranty rights are unaffected. Check your measurements carefully before you order.
Typical door sizes and openings outside the range
Within the configurator limits (600 to 1,400 mm wide, 1,800 to 3,000 mm high) the configurator prices any size straight away. Our own configurator data come from anonymous sessions on all 15 Manufaktur X country sites between June and October 2026, so not only from the UK; for each session we count the last configuration set, not individual inputs and not doors bought. They show a median door leaf width of 988 mm, with 8 in 10 configurations between 790 and 1,400 mm (n = 740), and a median door height of 2,130 mm, with 8 in 10 between 2,000 and 2,763 mm (n = 695). Both medians are larger than the standard configuration (900 × 2,040 mm), which is why the table includes an example row at this typical size (990 × 2,130 mm): compare your own door with that row rather than with the standard configuration alone.
