A room divider with door means two separate products at Manufaktur X, each configured in its own 3D configurator on its own product page: a room divider with a steel frame and glass infill, and an interior steel and glass loft door, either hinged or pivoting. The divider has no door, handle or sliding version, so its optional walk-through opening stays open; both products have a lead time of about 5-6 weeks.
What the walk-through opening in the room divider is
The walk-through opening is an optional on/off choice when you set up the steel and glass room divider. It always sits in the middle of the divider, with one glass field to its left and one to its right. The divider itself is made to measure from 1,000 to 6,000 mm in width and from 1,000 to 3,000 mm in height.
You can set the opening between 400 and 2,000 mm in width and between 500 and 2,900 mm in height. The default of 800 mm matches a typical door width. Both dimensions are fixed when you order: the opening is made to those measurements and the glazing bars are laid out around it, so it cannot be changed, moved or removed once the divider is built. A glass partition with a doorway is therefore the divider with this option switched on; a door cannot be added to the partition itself, as the door is the separate loft door.
Our configurator does not yet have enough sessions from the UK for figures of its own. Across all 15 Manufaktur X country sites (anonymous sessions, 03/06/2026 to 31/10/2026; for each session we count the last configuration set, not individual inputs and not purchases) the data show a median walk-through opening width of 900 mm, with 8 in 10 configurations between 800 and 1,302 mm (n = 69 sessions with the opening switched on).
The opening also affects the price: in the tested configurations, a divider with an opening costs less than the same divider without one, and, starting from the default configuration, a wider or taller opening lowers the price.
The loft door as the separate door
The steel and glass loft door is made to measure from 600 to 1,400 mm in width and from 1,800 to 3,000 mm in height. The hinged version has its hinges at the side, while the pivot version turns on a pivot hinge in the frame, with the axis set in from the edge.
You choose whether the door is hinged on the left or the right. An optional magnetic lock keeps it closed against draughts, and a light pull or push opens it again. How each product is fixed in place
The room divider is anchored on at least three sides: to the ceiling, to the floor and to at least one side wall, and each of these has to be able to take the load. Because of its weight and size, we recommend fitting it with two people or having a tradesperson do it. If you rent, speak to your landlord before you order, because the fixings are drilled into the ceiling and the floor.
The divider is not approved as a load-bearing element: do not put extra weight on it or hang anything from it. The loft door is fixed by screwing its frame to the wall through pre-drilled holes. Load-bearing walls of concrete, brick, calcium silicate brick, steel or timber are suitable for the door, and so are plasterboard or timber stud walls with a sturdy frame behind them. The door also needs enough clearance to open and close.
Manufaktur X does not install either product. The loft door comes with a detailed installation guide, so you can fit it yourself or have a local joiner do it. Measuring the two openings separately
For the loft door, measure the clear width of the wall opening at several points, take the smallest figure and subtract about 5 mm per side (left, right and top) as a fitting gap.
For the room divider, measure from wall to wall and from floor to ceiling at several points, take the smallest figure and subtract a fitting gap on each side; 5-10 mm per side (left, right and top) is recommended.
Giving both products the same look
Both products come in the same five preset RAL colours, RAL 9005, RAL 7016, RAL 9010, RAL 9001 and RAL 8019, or in any other RAL colour by its code, and in the tested configurations the colour did not change the price. That means you can order the door and the divider in one shade.
The same five glass types are available for both, and the room divider takes one glass type across all its fields. Both are glazed with safety glass, either toughened safety glass (ESG) or laminated safety glass (VSG), and in the tested configurations VSG costs the same as ESG.
